Phase 4 acquires Philosophers

31788:

EXCLUSIVE: The distributor has acquired all rights in the US and Canada to John Huddles’ sci-fi thriller starring James Darcy. Bankside Films handles international sales on the Croisette.

The Philosophers centres on a philosophy teacher at an international school in Jakarta who challenges his graduate class of 20 to elect which 10 they would send into an underground shelter in the event of a nuclear apocalypse.

Sophie Lowe, Daryl Sabara, Freddie Stroma, Rhys Wakefield and Bonnie Wright star.

Cybill Lui and George Zakk produced and Indonesia’s SCTV financed the thriller.

Phase 4’s Larry Greenberg and Katharyn Howe negotiated with Paradigm on behalf of the filmmakers. The distributor plans a theatrical and VoD release later this year.

The Philosophers Twitter Account 3,000 followers goal

thisgreyweather:

So, I’m back to begging! The Philosophers official twitter page said that once they reach 3,000 followers they’ll release “something cool”. The fan that asked had asked for a new clip, so maybe?? George might not even be part of whatever they release, but I don’t want to chance it, so please follow The Philosophers twitter account

I wish there was something else we could do to help this get picked up, and I’m sure them actually having a decent amount of followers will help, so pretty please~ :(

I’m tagging this with a few other actors besides George too so their fans can follow it as well :)

hello :) i was just wondering, does george blagden have a relatively big part or?

I actually am not sure how big his role is. All I know is that more than one cast member has said that there are many scenes with all of the students, so even if he isn’t one of the leads, he’ll probably be around a lot.

It starts as an experiment, but once it begins it will change them forever.

Is Bonnie one of the main casts or the irrelevant one? Also, is there a release date for Australia?

Anonymous

There’s not been any official release dates posted, but they have quite a few Australian actors in the film, so hopefully Australia gets a release date. :)

The official twitter has said Bonnie’s one of the main students. I’ve gotten the impression that in addition to James D’Arcy, Rhys Wakefield and Sophie Lowe (who featured the most in the trailer), that Freddie Stroma, Daryl Sabara and Bonnie Wright are all going to have decent sized parts as their names are on top of the official poster. But as a few of the cast members have said, all 20 of the students play an important part in the film.

New interview where Jacob Artist mentions The Philosophers.

DA MAN: You also will star in The Philosophers. Can you tell us more about the movie?Jacob Artist: I think people are really going to enjoy it! It’s a very fresh and cool take on the whole apocalypse genre. You get to chronicle everything through 20 philosophy students and see how this adventure plays out with such an interesting group dynamic. Conceptually I think it separates itself as not just another teen sci-fi/fantasy movie.DA MAN: What was shooting in Indonesia like? Was that your first time working outside the US?
Jacob Artist: It was my first time ever overseas and it was hands down one of the most incredible experiences of my life. Just being in a brand new country with 20 other kids my age and experiencing that all together for the first time was so special. Those are the memories I’ll be telling my grandkids about.
